About Harbor Legacy Group
Harbor Legacy Group is structured to acquire and operate one exceptional business for the long term. Our focus is disciplined execution, operational excellence, and responsible growth, always with respect for the legacy established by its founder.
The meaning behind the name
A harbor represents stability and protection. It is where vessels return after long journeys and prepare for what lies ahead. It reflects resilience, consistency, and the ability to navigate change with intention.
Harbor Legacy Group is built on that same principle.
Inspired by a personal connection to Cold Spring Harbor, the name reflects a commitment to preserving what has been built and creating long-term value. We partner with business owners who have spent years building meaningful companies and are seeking a thoughtful and responsible transition.
Our approach is grounded in stewardship, not short-term gain. We focus on continuity, operational excellence, and strengthening the foundation already in place while positioning the business for sustainable growth.
This is not transactional ownership.
This is long-term stewardship.
Meet the Founder
Matt founded Harbor Legacy Group with one clear purpose:
To acquire and operate one exceptional business for the long term as a committed steward.
Before launching Harbor Legacy Group, Matt spent over seven years at The Walt Disney Company, where he led strategic advertising and performance initiatives across large portfolios and cross-functional teams. During that time, he helped generate more than $160 million in annual revenue through partnerships and drove growth initiatives in collaboration with senior leadership.
Today, Matt is completing his MBA at Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management to further strengthen his operational and financial expertise as he prepares to lead a company full-time.
As part of this hands-on training, he is working directly with CEOs across two operating businesses, including a commercial janitorial services company and a carbon monoxide monitoring company. In these roles, he is focused on identifying operational improvements and executing growth initiatives at the ground level.
His background blends leadership, analytical discipline, and a highly relational approach. He believes strong businesses are built through thoughtful leadership, operational excellence, and a deep commitment to employees, customers, and long-term continuity.
Off the Clock
Outside of work, Matt values time spent with his wife, Victoria. He’s also often experimenting with international recipes in the kitchen and pairing each meal with the right bottle of wine.
He is an avid reader of American history and biographies, with favorites including Grant, Washington: A Life by Ron Chernow, and Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin, stories that reflect his appreciation for leadership, discipline, and long-term thinking.
Matt is also a dedicated runner, having completed the New York City Marathon in 2023. He enjoys skiing, fishing, and can often be found on the golf course continuing his long-running battle with a seemingly incurable slice.
